Since making their first appearance in 1995, Yasmin Ahmad's annual Merdeka TV commercials for Petronas have become eagerly anticipated and much-loved gems.
For the latest commercial in the series, last year's Tan Hong Ming In Love, Yasmin and her crew went to schools in the Klang Valley to interview children using the theme, "Our children are colour blind, let's keep them that way". The result is a simple and candid work that charmed audiences with its young protaganist's shy declaration of love.
To date, Tan Hong Ming In Love has won over 20 international awards, including the prestigious Gold Lion at the Cannes Advetising Festival 2008 last month.
